Abstract

This article aims to discuss the main challenges experienced by Technogical Professional Education teachers who teach the subjects of law and legislation, and the means used to overcome them. The qualitative nature investigation was carried out with four teachers of legal disciplines from a State Technical School in the Vale do Paraíba area. Semi-structured interviews were carried out and the analysis of the collected data took place from the content analysis perspective. The lack of specific training for Professional Education was identified as the main difficulty for entering the career, and to overcome it, the teachers chose to take complementary training courses, not only to keep up to date, but above all, to reflect on the process of student learning aiming the quality improvement of their classes. It was found that teachers use different sources to obtain elements that can successfully overcome challenges, especially they use their own professional experience prior to the classroom. To mobilize students to arouse interest in legal disciplines, it was found that teachers use differrent strategies and resort to concrete examples and cases from the specific area of ​​the course. It was evident that teachers are committed to promoting student learning in the technical courses in which they work. The results reiterate the need to create public policies that include specific training programs for teachers of Professional Technological Education that meet the training needs of these professionals who become teachers in the exercise of their work.
