Abstract

This article deals with the expansion process of the Federal Network for Professional, Scientific and Technological Education, which was carried out within the scope of public and educational policies and under the expectation that such expansion would contribute to reducing social and territorial inequalities in Brazil. The purpose here is to present, based on the bibliographic review method, an analysis of such expansion of the Federal Network, stressing the relationship between historicity and the configuration of Federal Institutes. As a result, it was pointed out that despite the great potential of the Federal Network, it is of fundamental importance to make room for a broader dialogue on the expansion of federal institutes, in order to build a path that does not reproduce more versions of the same social exclusion.

Integrante do Núcleo de Estudos sobre Acesso e Permanência na Educação - Nucleape (IFF/UENF).
Gerson Tavares do Carmo, State University of Norte Fluminense

Professor da Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense, credenciado nos Programas de Pós-Graduação de Cognição e Linguagem e em Sociologia Política. Graduado em Administração Pública (FGV-RJ), Mestre em Cognição e Linguagem e Doutor em Sociologia Política, ambos na UENF. Pós-Doutorado em Sociologia Pragmática pela Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
